The SlyeStrong #6 Foundation held its 3rd Annual Community-Wide New and Used Children’s Book and Supply Drive from March 27-April 7, 2017. Once again, the support was AMAZING!! We were able to collect over 4,400 new and used children’s books, coloring books, crayons, puzzles, games, bubbles and pinwheels. In addition, the North Stafford Graphics Arts Department also donated over 2,000 coloring books that they created.
We were able to deliver books to Mary Washington Hospital, Stafford Hospital, Children’s National Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Richmond, Rappahannock Teen Mom Program, Stafford County ROSE (Reading Over the Summer is Essential) Program, Stafford County Head Start, Fredericksburg Head Start, Falmouth Elementary, and Regional Alternative School!
We would like to thank the North Stafford High School Learn and Serve Classes, Stafford County Public Schools, Mt. Ararat Church, Rejuvalase Spa, Central Rappahonnock Regional Library: Headquarters, England Run and Porter Library Branches, Jabberwocky Children’s Books and Toys, Dragonfly Yoga Studio, WeeCycled Wardrobe, and YOFO Yoga Studio for assisting in the collection of books and supplies.
As always, we are forever grateful for our fabulous volunteers: Margaret Lowry, Paula Williams, Lee Garrison, Julie Grebe, Mandy Moore, Heather Mangano, Jake Mangano, Brock Mangano, and Karen Bacardo for all their help collecting, stickering, sorting, and delivering books and supplies.
