One way we have chosen to keep AJ’s legacy alive, is to provide 6 (his high school football number) scholarships to graduating scholar-athletes like AJ, students who are following their educational dreams, who are good leaders, who face adversity with strength and grace, and who are well-rounded scholar-athletes. We wanted to honor a high-achieving student who will serve as a role model for other young people, who have chosen to do the right thing, and will continue to do so.  We have chosen one recipient from each of the five high schools in Stafford County as well as a Football Player from 5A North Region to receive a $1,000 scholarship to continue pursuing their education.

We were truly inspired by the quality of applicants for the SlyeStrong #6 scholarships this year and would like to thank all the students who applied.  We are proud of all of the students to continue their hard work and efforts as they prepare to embark on the next leg of their journey!

The winners of our scholarships demonstrate the characteristics coaches often used when describing AJ:   perseverance, leadership, determination and compassion.

Our recipients, selected by our committee of community volunteers, have held high academic standards, excelled in athletic programs, while being active in activities both in and out of school.  Our 2016 SlyeStrong#6 Scholar Athletes are

From Mountain View High School: Jacob Pollock.

From North Stafford High School: Matthew Schaefer.

From Brooke Point High School: Taylor Hayes.

From Colonial Forge High School: Sabrina Orsi.
