Elyssa Cartagena

Elyssa maintained a 4.125 GPA.  She was 4-year Student Athlete lettering in Varsity Girls Softball.  She also plays on multiple travel softball teams.  As a member of Learn and Serve, she designed and decorated a haunted trail for the YMCA Creepy Crawly Carnival, collected food for the local food banks and collected supplies for the Thurman Brisben Center.  Besides her tremendous success in school, Elyssa is extremelyactive in the community.  She serves on the Girl Scouts of America Commonwealth Council and was awarded both the Bronze and Silver Awards for her service.  She serves as teen president of the Greater Fredericksburg Chapter of Jack and Jill of America (a service organization of top performing scholars and athletes representing eleven different high schools in the greater Fredericksburg area).  Elyssa also employed at the Merit School – Stafford Lakes where she prepares meals and supervises children.  Her life motto is “Life is too good to be unhappy.”  She will be attending North Carolina State University in the fall.
