From April 13th – April 30th, the SlyeStrong #6 Foundation held a community-wide book drive. To say it was a success, would be an understatement! We were able to collect over 3,000 new and used books, coloring books, crayons, puzzles, games, bubbles and pinwheels. In addition, the North Stafford Graphics Arts Department also donated over 1,000 coloring books that they had created. We were able to deliver books to Mary Washington Hospital, Stafford Hospital, Spotsylvania Hospital, Children’s National Hospital, Rappahannock Teen Mom Program, Stafford County ROSE (Reading Over the Summer is Essential) Program, Stafford County Head Start, Fredericksburg Head Start Rappahannock Juvenile Detention Center, and several Nursing Homes! What a turnout!
We would like to thank the North Stafford Student Renaissance Team, Stafford County Public Schools, Margaret Lowry,
Jessica Roth, Julie Grebe, Kim Washburn, Ana Ravenel, Deb Bochonok, Jacob Bochonok, Mandy Moore, Madi Moore, Pauletta Morrast, Ray Poff, Abby Poff and Karen Richardson for all their help collecting, stickering, sorting, and delivering books.
A very special thank you goes out to Tina Garrison for leading this VERY successful and worthwhile endeavor!
