This spring, the SlyeStrong#6 Foundation held their Annual New and Used Community-Wide Book Drive.  And, for the 4th year in a row, our community showed its generosity and giving spirit in a BIG way!

Even though we decided to limit the collection points this year, we still collected over 1,500 new and used books, coloring books, crayons, puzzles, games, bubbles, and pinwheels, along with over 3,500 coloring books created by the North Stafford High School Graphics Arts Department.

We were able to deliver books to Mary Washington Hospital, Stafford Hospital, Children’s National Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Richmond, Rappahannock Teen Mom Program, Stafford County ROSE (Reading Over the Summer is Essential) Program, Stafford County Head Start, Fredericksburg Head Start, and Regional Alternative Education Center.

We would like to thank the North Stafford High School Learn and Serve class,  Mt. Ararat  Church, Rejuvalase Spa, Central Rappahannock Regional Library: Fredericksburg, Howell, and Porter Library Branches, Jabberwocky Children’s Books and Toys, Dragonfly Yoga Studio, Yoga Foundation of Fredericksburg, and the Barton & Williams School of Dance for assisting in the collection of books.

As always, we are forever grateful for our fabulous volunteers: Megs Early, Brooke Early, Margaret Lowry, Julie Grebe, Heather Mangano, Brock Mangano, LaTasha Madison, Avery Madison, Anastasia Dubrovina, Pam Smith, and Karen Richardson for all their help collecting, stickering, sorting, and delivering all the collected goodies!

Great Job, Tina Garrison for leading another VERY successful book drive!
